Canada’s last asbestos mine may have found a new purpose.
The Jeffrey Mine in southeastern Quebec is winding down its operations after the provincial government cancelled a loan that would have kept the asbestos industry alive.
Recently, Canadian scientists have used the mine to simulate a mission to Mars because they say the site is geologically similar to the red planet.
