OTTAWA – One person was killed, six others were injured Sunday after two multi-vehicle collisions east of the city.

The first collision occurred near Carlsbad Springs, while the second was close to Place d’Orleans.

Ottawa Paramedics were called the Devine and Frontier Roads around 5:30 p.m. after two cars collided.

Upon arrival, they found a woman, 78,  in cardiac arrest. She was taken to hospital in critical condition where she died of her injuries.

One passenger, a man, 52, suffered serious head and chest injuries but was taken to hospital in stable condition.  The other passenger, a man, 53, suffered neck and back injuries and was stable condition when taken to hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle,  a  female, 55, suffered chest and leg injuries and was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Devine Road at Boundary Road, Frontier Road at Burton Road and Devine at McVagh Road were closed for six hours while police investigated.

Police are investigating this incident as well as another crash near Place d’Orleans where a three car collision sent three people to hospital in stable condition. One person was extricated by firefighters.

Paramedics arrived on scene at 10th Line Road and St. Joseph Blvd around 7:30 p.m. and quickly stabilized three injured people including a  boy, 16, a girl, 17, and a woman, 29.

The boy suffered neck and chest injuries. The teen girl suffered abdominal and hip injuries and the older woman suffered a chest injury.
