OTTAWA, Ont. – Eight people have been left without a place to stay after three separate fires Wednesday.

Fire crews were called to a row home at 932 Torino Terrace in the Trim and Innes Roads area around 6 p.m.  An unattended pot on the stove had ignited.

Smoke and flames caused $48,000 worth of damage and displaced three people.

Meantime, four people will have to stay with friends after a similar fire at a row home in Bells Corners.

Fire crews were called to 42 Hadley Court at 4:15 p.m. where an unattended pot ignited a fire and destroyed the kitchen.

A mother, her two children and a friend were not allowed to return home. No damage estimate was released and there were no injuries.

One person was displaced after a candle sparked a fire in an apartment in the Sandy Hill area.Crews were called to 218 Somerset Street East at 1:50 a.m. and had the flames under control by 2 a.m.

Damage is pegged at $2,000 to one unit in the three-storey building. There were no injuries.
