Public elementary school teachers are expected to walk-off the job next week as part of their plan to ramp-up job action.
In the meantime, teachers have withdrawn from supervising sports and clubs in protest of Bill 115 and as a result, public high school students across Ontario have been without any extra-curricular activities.
Becca, a grade 10 student at St.Francis Xavier’s said she blames the teachers adding, “I think it’s the teachers faults, they could have gone about this in a different way.”
Lindsay a grade 11 student at South Carleton echoed Becca’s statement and said, ” I’m not sure why we as students have to be punished, I think the teachers are being totally unfair.”
The Globe and Mail has reported that students in Oakville, Waterloo and cottage country have organized rallies through social media and could stage walk-outs of their own as an attempt to send a message to teachers.
