OTTAWA, Ont. – Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Ottawa, Gatineau, and most areas to the south and east of the city.

Periods of freezing rain continued overnight Sunday into Monday morning.

“We’ve had between 5-10 millimetres of ice secretion,” said 1310News meteorologist Harold Hosein. “Some of that will be melting this afternoon as the temperature rises just above zero, but watch out for the risk of more freezing rain tonight.”

Ottawa police are reminding you to drive for the conditions and be prepared for hazardous winter driving conditions.

“You know the roads when they’re icy, you have to slow down,” said Ottawa Police Sergeant Jamie Dunlop. “You have to change your driving habits.”

Other areas under a freezing rain warning include Brockville, Prescott and Russell, Cornwall, Smiths Falls, Perth, Renfrew, Arnprior, and Pembroke.
