OTTAWA, Ont. – Student safety and well-being dominated discussion at Tuesday’s meeting of the Ottawa Carleton District School Board.
Board members addressed the shooting massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, that left 20 children, six adults and the gunman dead.
The board’s Safe and Caring Schools team has prepared resources for parents and guardians, including tip sheets and articles on how to address the issue with students.
Members were also told that information about the board’s violence/threat risk assessment protocol can be found on the board’s website.
Flags at all buildings in the district have been lowered to half-staff in memory of the victims of Friday’s shooting.
