Woman killed single vehicle collision; car submerged, upside down

OTTAWA, Ont. – The driver of a car that rolled and ended up submerged and upside down in a water filled ditch near Stittsville, has died of her injuries.

Crews were called to the scene at Upper Dwyer Hill Road, near March Road at 8:16 a.m. A tow truck had to be used to pull the car out of the ditch before the woman could be extricated from the vehicle by Ottawa fire crews. The 43-year-old woman had no vital signs when she was pulled from her car, and was airlifted to hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released.

The intersection of March and Dwyer Hill roads was closed for most of the day as police investigated the cause of the crash..
