OTTAWA, On – An innovation complex is going in at Bayview Yards near Mechanicsville.
The province announced a $15 million contribution for the project on Thursday. The complex will be a space for new businesses to develop and grow.
“It is going to be a tremendous destination for innovation, for culture, for the excitement of job creation that we need in that part of the community,” said Mayor Jim Watson.
Watson said the city is catching up to Toronto and Kitchener-Waterloo, who already have these centres. But Watson said when it is built, it will be remarkable.
There is also space on the property for residential, commercial and recreational use.
The mayor said it is still several years in the making.
