OTTAWA, Ont. – A spring-like thaw has been melting Ottawa’s ice and snow since Wednesday, and it caused some trouble on the roads Thursday morning.
Traffic was at a standstill on the Rockcliffe Parkway, near Birch Avenue and Lisgar Road, after several vehicles suffered damage from hitting potholes.
Julie spent a good part of her morning waiting for a tow truck after blowing her car tires.
“There was a huge puddle and I saw the van in front of me coming back up from it, but it was too late. I was already in the hole, Julie told 1310News. “When I came out of the hole, my tires blew.”
City crews cleared water out of the potholes, some as big as a foot deep.
