Second suspect arrested after gunpoint home invasion and kidnapping of Quebec couple

MANIWAKI, QUE – A second suspect is in custody and police say a third suspect may be involved after an armed home invasion and kidnapping early Saturday morning near Maniwaki, Quebec.

Sûreté du Québec say a 17-year-old boy turned himself into police Saturday night.

A 16-year-old Ottawa boy is already in custody Both are to appear in court Monday.

The suspects allegedly broke in to an elderly couples cottage in Bouchette, Que., near Maniwaki, early Saturday morning with their faces covered with scarves and armed with a handgun.

The couple was then forced in to their car at gunpoint and taken over 150 kilometers away to a barn in L’isle-Aux-Allumettes where they were tied up.

The couple later managed to free themselves and caught the attention of a passing motorist Saturday morning. They were then taken to hospital with minor injuries

The couple’s car was found abandoned near Pembroke less than 3 hours later and the 16-year-old boy was arrested nearby.

Police say the suspects stole money, alcohol, and a computer from the cottage.
