OTTAWA, On. – It is Family Day across Ontario, and many in the capital spent their holiday at Winterlude. It is the last day of the 18-day festival.

Families bundled up to see the ice sculptures and lantern garden at Confederation Park – as well as enjoy some treats, including taffy on snow and Beavertails, of course.

“I just love being outside,” said one girl who was there with her mother, brother and sister.  “They make winter fun.”

While across the street at City Hall, the Mayor held his 2nd annual Family Day Skating Party.

Families laced up their skates and glided around the Rink of Dreams.  After getting off the ice, they warmed up with complimentary hot chocolate and soup – which included the Mayor Jim Watson Chicken Noodle Soup.

“We are trying to make City Hall more of a people place – to get people to come down here and enjoy the Sports Hall of Fame, Barbara Ann Scott Gallery and Rink of Dreams ,” Mayor Watson told 1310News.

Around 2000 people came out to the Mayor’s Family Day event.
