Safety concerns over single engine F35 fighter jets

OTTAWA – A new report by the Rideau Institute warns the federal government that the F35 fighter jet could put the lives of pilots at risk.

Michael Byers, the political science professor from the University of British Columbia who authored the bill, said since the F35 has only one engine, there is no backup for the pilot if his engine shuts down.

“A single engine is stupid. There is no backup. If it fails, you’re dead.” said Byers.

The government has prepared a report on the next-best fighter jet for our country, after pulling back from its initial plan to buy the F35.

The report hasn’t yet been made public.
