OHIP to cover cost of second stem cell transplant for Jonathan Pitre

MINNESOTA – It’s good news for Jonathan Pitre and his family.

The Russell teen has learned OHIP will cover the cost of his second stem cell transplant in the United States, according to Postmedia.

The 16-year-old is currently staying at an apartment in Minnesota with his mother Tina Boileau, with regular trips into hospital for treatment of EB Simplex, a rare and extremely painful skin condition.

The transplant costs more than $1 million, and is Pitre’s best chance at a better quality of life, and relief from his chronic pain.
