OTTAWA – School closures are on the agenda at an Ottawa-Carleton District School Board special committee of the whole meeting Monday.
Trustees will debate closing seven west-end schools, as they try to wrestle the budget. Many schools are underutilized, some only half-full. If school closures are approved, students and staff would be moved to other schools this coming September.
Schools on the chopping block include Regina, Leslie Park, and Century elementary schools. Greenbank, J.H. Putman and D.A. Moodie middle schools and Grant Alternative School are also in jeopardy.
Another meeting to discuss the possible closure of Rideau High School is planned for Wednesday.
