OTTAWA — Ontario’s Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals confirms it has opened an investigation into the Papanack Zoo, after a disturbing video was posted online, last weekend.
A video by the group Animal Justice appears to show animals being mistreated at the zoo, in Wendover. The OSPCA says because it has an investigation under way, it cannot comment on any specific allegations in the case. It asks anyone who may have information about any abuse at the zoo to get in touch with them.
The OSPCA has called for stronger provincial regulations — either through new legislation or strengthening existing laws — governing the care of animals.
