OTTAWA — The son of a woman killed in a Sandy Hill apartment is facing second degree murder.

Ottawa police officers arrived at 85 Range Rd. Friday around 5:30 a.m. to find the body of Rachel Mair.

An arrest was made at the scene.

Steven Mair, 29, was charged and remains behind bars.

Neighbours in the area heard a commotion Friday morning, and looked out their windows to see a naked man on a stretcher.

“He was shouting — what he was shouting, I don’t know — I took it to be abuse at the police,” said a man who lives in the building opposite where the woman’s body was found. “He sounded mentally deranged.”

Ottawa Police tell 1310 NEWS, they are not looking for any other suspects and there is no danger to the public.
