OTTAWA — Frontline officers and a K9 unit were able to save a woman from suicide in Ottawa.
On Wednesday, officers were called to an address about a woman in distress who was threatening to harm herself.
Officers couldn’t find the woman when they arrived, so they requested a K9 to locate her.
The K9 officer and his dog tracked the womans’ scent, and found her in some bushes nearby.
She was in distress from serious attempts to take her own life.
Police say the quick action of these frontline officers and the K9 unit undoubtedly led to the woman’s survival.
This is the second incident this year where a K9 unit was instrumental in saving the life of a missing suicidal person. In early July, a K9 officer and his dog found a male who had attempted to take his own life in a wooded area.
