Firearm seized during traffic stop

OTTAWA — A traffic stop has led to firearms charges against an Ottawa man.

On November 9, at approximately 11pm, a traffic stop by frontline officers in the area of St. Laurent Boulevard and Donald Street resulted in the seizure of drugs and a gun.

During the interaction between the officer and the driver, the driver was arrested for possession of marijuana.

During a search of the vehicle, the officer located a 9mm handgun.

Jason Campbell, 25, of Ottawa is facing charges of:

Possession of Schedule II (Marijuana)
Careless use of Firearm
Possession of a weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Carrying a Concealed Weapon
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
Unauthorized Possession in a motor vehicle
Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
