Santa Claus is coming to town!

OTTAWA – Christmas is front and centre in the nation’s capital this weekend!

The 48th annual Help Santa Toy Parade is rolling through the downtown core Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.

The parade starts at the National Archives on Wellington Street, heads east on Wellington Street, right on Bank Street, left on Laurier Avenue and ends at Ottawa City Hall.

New toys and cash donations will be collected by the Ottawa firefighters along the parade route.

Also this weekend, the Barrhaven Santa Claus Parade is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Saturday. There will be fireworks to kickoff the event at 5:20 p.m. on Strandherd Drive.

The parade runs down Strandherd Drive, starting at Beatrice Drive and ending at the park n ride, where it turns north for dispersal.

Non-perishable food items or cash donations will be collected along the parade route for the Barrhaven Food Cupboard.

The parade begins at Terry Fox Drive and Castlefrank Road at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, running along Castlefrank Road to Abbeyhill Drive and ending at the Hazeldean Mall.
