OTTAWA — The Ottawa Police Service has one man in custody in connection with the “fake uber driver” case, in which women leaving bars and restaurants in the Byward Market were targeted.
Incidents were first reported before Christmas.
Ottawa police then alerted the public earlier this week about someone preying on women who may have been intoxicated.
The suspect allegedly sexually assaulted his victims before taking their pin numbers for credit and debit cards.
Sami Hassan Khreis, 37, faces 11 charges, including one count of sexual assault, three counts of fraud, as well as theft of a credit card, and failing to comply with a probation order.
