David Gourlay resigns as president of the Ottawa Champions

David Gourlay

OTTAWA – The President of the Ottawa Champions baseball team is stepping down.

David Gourlay has submitted his resignation after six years at the helm of the team.

In a statement, Gourlay thanked Mayor Jim Watson, councillor Bob Monette and former Mayor Jim Durrell for their support of the team.

“With every Ottawa Champion who threw a curve, grabbed a liner, stole a base and cleared the fence on to Coventry, I had a great sense of pride knowing we were building memories,” Gourlay wrote. “I thank the fans – this has been for them and I will be cheering on our Champions this season and beyond.”

Gourlay says he will pursue “other community initiatives,” but doesn’t specify what those are.
