Lanes re-open on 417 after tractor-trailer accident

OTTAWA – Two eastbound lanes are back open on Highway 417 between Nicholas Street and the Vanier Parkway, after a tractor-trailer hit a concrete barrier early Thursday morning.

The tractor trailer slammed in to the construction barrier and jack-knifed, just before 5:30 a.m. Thursday, blocking four lanes of traffic for nearly two hours.

One lane of the Highway eastbound reopened just after 7 a.m. and all traffic is being diverted off onto the Nicholas Street and Lees Avenue off-ramps.

A second lane opened after the tractor-trailer was removed before noon.

There are no reports of any injuries.
