Toyota has announced a big recall for cars including 28,000 here in Canada. The recall also affects the U.S., Japan and Europe.
Lexus, Avalon and other models are being recalled for brake fluid and fuel-pump problems.
Most of the vehicles need to be fixed for a problem with the brake master cylinder which Toyota says could lead to weaker braking power.
Toyota Canada wants to look at the brake master cylinder on 2005-06 Avalons and Highlanders along with the Lexus RX 330 and 2006 Lexus GS 300s, IS 250s and IS 350s.
Globally, Toyota will call back 740,000 cars in the U.S. and 60,000 in Japan, along with some in Europe.
The company says no accidents have been reported due to the problems.
Over the past year, Toyota has recalled more than 10-million cars and trucks worldwide for a variety of problems, from faulty gas pedals and floor mats that can trap accelerators to braking problems in its Prius Hybrid. In August, Toyota called back 1.33-million Corolla Sedans and Matrix hatchbacks in the U.S. and Canada because their engines may stall.
