Family says veteran was berated by orderly at Hôpital de Hull

GATINEAU – The family of a lung cancer patient at the Hôpital de Hull wants an orderly there fired.

According to his family, the orderly berated Navy veteran John Gervais, 77, to speak in French.

A hospital spokesperson said the actions of the orderly, who is in his 20’s, were unacceptable but that he would not be suspended.

The Gervais family said a formal complaint has been lodged.

Shame on the orderly and shame on the hospital for not punshing the orderly. As long as Quebec is a part of CANADA anyone working in a service industry best learn English. This man is a veteran and deserves respect. If the hospital refuses to treat this patient and his family with the respect he deserves, they best pony up the money to move them all to another province where this gentleman can get the care he deserves in English.
