OTTAWA — It is the coldest September 1 on record.
Environment Canada says the temperature in the city dipped to 4.8 C around 6 a.m., Friday.
That is lower than it has ever been on September 1 in the city.
The previous record was set in 1967, when the temperature dropped to 6.1 C.
The agency expects a high of 17 on Friday.
The highest temperature ever recorded on this date in Ottawa is 33.9.
Environment Canada says that high was reached back in 1953.
