OTTAWA – Preparations are underway for the annual Christmas dinner at the Ottawa Mission.
The dinner is being held Sunday, December 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 35 Waller St.
An estimated 2,500 plates of turkey will be served to those who are homeless, hungry or alone.
The annual meal will consist of:
-2,500 lbs. of oven roasted turkey
-50 gallons of Giblet Gravy
-24 Pans Savory Stuffing
-450 Tourtière pies
-600 lbs. of mashed potatoes
-250 lbs. of glazed baby carrots
-250 lbs. of Green Beans Almandine
-230 dozen dinner rolls
-3,000 donated cupcakes
About 120 volunteers will help serve the meal, and many more volunteers have started helping prepare the food.
