Fire officials in Victoria, British Columbia are investigating a Saturday, February 16 morning blaze that left two young people dead and a third in hospital.

A fire captain says it’s believed the victims were students who rented the house.

Several out-of-town guests were also staying there and they had a party the night before.

Flames were shooting from both the front and back of the house when firefighters arrived, even though a fire hall is nearby.

But, by the time crews had arrived, it was too late.

The fire appears to have started on the side porch at the front of the house that had couches were people had been smoking.
