OTTAWA – There will be no boating on the Rideau Canal this long weekend.
Due to high water levels, Parks Canada has delayed the start of the 2017 navigation season for the Rideau Canal and the Trent Severn Waterway.
The canal is scheduled to open May 26, one week later than normal.
Water-based activities are discouraged, though the canals’ lock stations will be fully open to visitors on land, and lock staff will be on hand.
