Police search for purse-snatching cyclist

OTTAWA — Police ask for your help to identify and find the man who snatched a woman’s purse near Chinatown, early Thursday morning.

The theft happened on Empress Avenue, near Booth and Somerset, just before 7 a.m. The man got off the bike and chased the victim on foot, grabbing the purse after a short struggle.

The victim wasn’t hurt.

The man was last seen cycling west on Primrose Avenue. He’s described as:

  • white
  • in his 40’s
  • about 5’10” tall

 

He was last seen riding a black mountain bike, while wearing dark jeans and a black rain jacket with a hood.
